FRANCE GRAND TOUR 2027

7th June to 1st July 2027

Our journey starts in the Champagne region before heading into the heart of Burgundy
famed for its food and wine. We then head south through the rugged terrain of the Ardeche
and into the stunning countryside and hilltop towns of Provence, where the lavender should
be just starting to bloom. Next it’s on to the Mediterranean coast for a few nights with the
chance to visit the unspoilt Camargue region in addition to the more developed seaside towns.
We move inland around Toulouse before heading to the Dordogne and historic Bordeaux. We
then enjoy the stretch of the Atlantic coast as we head up to La Rochelle. Our journey takes us
back through the vineyards and chateaux on the Loire with the chance to visit Tours and Angers
before heading back to Calais.

DAY - TO -DAY ITINERARY

Night Before: We stay on a campsite close to Dover where we provide a full briefing for the tour and advice on motorhoming on the continent in general. This is a complimentary night and you are welcome to join us at no additional cost.

Day 1: We take the ferry to France and head deep into the Champagne region of France with an overnight stop near Reims.

Days 2 – 3: We head into the Burgundy region staying for two nights close to medieval town of Chalon-Sur-Saone. The mighty Saone River is a feature of the landscape as are the steep scarps of the Cote d’Or, dotted with vineyards.

Days 4 – 6: Our destination for the next three nights is the famous Pont d’Arc. This is a great base to visit the craggy valleys, ridges and villages of the region. We are located on the banks of the River Ardeche.

Days 7 – 9: We head into Provence today and the city at the heart of the region, Avignon. Sitting on the Rhone River, the walled old town is rich in medieval and religious history and is home to the famous half-finished bridge. There is the option to visit more of the region where the lavender is just starting to bloom.

Days 10 – 11: We have a change of pace today as we head to the Mediterranean around Narbonne. Here you can expect long, sandy beaches and resort towns. We are also close to the Camargue wetlands famed for its pink flamingos, white horses and black bulls.

Days 12 – 13: We spend a couple of nights close to the historic city of Toulouse sitting just north of the Pyrenees mountains. The “pink city” is best known for its terracotta buildings and stunning old town.

Days 14 – 16: Today we head for the Dordogne region. Here we wind along the river en route to the impressive city of Bordeaux, sometimes described as little Paris. The area around the city is characterized by pretty stone villages and acres of vines.

Days 17 – 19: It’s back to the coast again today with a four night stop close to the ancient harbour town of La Rochelle. The medieval fortifications and distinctive towers still protect the port. The old walled town is a network of arcaded streets lined with artisan shops, boutiques, restaurants and bars.

Days 20 – 23: We head into the Loire Valley with three nights close to Angers, considered to be the gateway to visiting the many chateaux and vineyards that make the area so well known. In fact, most of France’s best-known chateaux are on this stretch.

Day 24: We start our journey north with an overnight stop close to the city of Rouen.

Day 25: We head for Calais today and our scheduled ferry crossing, or you may choose to extend your stay to take advantage of your flexible ferry ticket.
