ABOUT US

Bob and Wendy.jpg

Bob and Wendy Reeves

In 2010 when our children left home, we both quit our full time jobs, bought a motorhome and embarked on an adventure. Over the next three years we personally travelled over 30,000 miles through 30 countries. Since then we have clocked up a further 90,000 miles all across Europe.

Whilst travelling we were amazed by the rich variety of Europe. From the mountains, plains and rugged coastline of Southern Spain right the way up to the lunar landscape of the Arctic Circle. We have visited 30 capital cities and hundreds of towns and villages taking in all of Europe’s top tourist attractions. We’ve driven on Europe’s most interesting roads passing over the Alps and the Pyrenees, following coastal roads for hundreds of miles, crossing amazing structures like the Oresund and Millau bridges.

We've swam in lakes, rivers and seas. We have cycled beside rivers and canals and into large cities. We have walked through forests, along coastal paths and up mountains. We have encountered moose, reindeers, bison and bears. We even met Santa – in September! And we have met hundreds of people along the way – many of them motorhomers. We have become passionate about travelling and motorhoming in particular, and love sharing that with other people.

We have received excellent feedback from customers who have travelled with us already. Please see our Reviews page for customer comments.

We also act as travel consultants for Motorhome Monthly Magazine (MMM) and are regular travel contributors to Practical Motorhome Magazine (PMM).

Colin and Sue Davis

After being caravanners for over 30 years we bought our first motorhome in 2014 as we started our “retirement", the idea being to visit places we hadn’t been to before. Before deciding to retire early, Colin had worked as an IT and Telecoms Project Manager and Sue had been teaching children and adults for over 30 years.

Our first big trip in the motorhome was to tour Scotland. We’ve since toured Italy and Sweden as Crossings customers and have done numerous trips across England from Cornwall to the Cotswolds, the East Coast to the Peak District and many places in between.

We love the freedom of our motorhome, the opportunity to visit places we wouldn’t otherwise go to, and especially the ease of setting up on arrival at our destinations.  We often wonder why we ever struggled with the complexities of caravanning – filling and emptying the water, awnings, levelling etc.

Now it’s just pull onto the pitch, plug in the electrics and kettle on (or open the wine)!

We’ve really enjoyed our tours with Crossings and are now looking forward to sharing our future trips as tour guides with other enthusiastic motorhomers.

Gary and Eleanor Macalister

Gary and Eleanor have become involved in motorhoming relatively late, but see it as a natural extension to what they have picked up from many years sailing in the West Coast of Scotland. Having participated in the Crossings Italy and Loire tours, it seemed the obvious choice to take the next step and become more fully involved!

Gary has spent the majority of his working life in the oil industry, latterly managing offshore platforms for a multi-national operator, but most recently – and currently - in his own company specialising in emergency management.

Eleanor initially trained and taught as a primary school teacher and latterly worked in what she describes as the spirit business! Outside of the family, her interests include Scottish Country Dancing and Rotary, where she is a District Chair.

Gary and Eleanor have four grandchildren who they try and see as often as possible.

They enjoy group holidays and both have organised and led quite a number over the years - mainly for friends. They have travelled extensively for both work and on a personal basis with the result that the range of countries visited is causing space issues in the passports! They look forward to future trips with Crossings and meeting lots of interesting people.

Ian and Linda Willox

We have been travelling in a motorhome for over twenty years and, although we have graduated from a small camper to our current larger motorhome, we still love travelling to new and faraway places and meeting like-minded people.

Ian spent the majority of his working life as a vehicle engineer and Linda was administration manager for a large bank, but now confines her number crunching to accounts work.

We have worked as tour 'reps' for a leading walking and cycling holiday company based in France. Since then we have spent a few years completing camp site reviews, primarily in France, for a well-known Europe camping guide. This meant that over time we travelled to many places that we might not have got to in the course of a normal holiday. Of course, we still managed to travel much further afield on our ‘proper’ holidays!

Our first tour with Crossings was as customers, and seemed like luxury to us having all the overnight stops booked and planned in advance as well as information on visits and places to stop on route. This seemed to us to be the perfect blend of an organised tour yet still retaining the freedom to find your own way each day.  With this in mind we hope that, as the newest tour leaders, we will meet many more motorhome owners looking to spread their wings with a little help from us.

Gwyn & Debbie Williams

Debbie has spent her whole career devoted to childcare, rising to a position on the Board of Directors at National Level and more recently concentrating on local childcare resources in North Wales while running her own successful childminding service.

Gwyn spent 30 yearsrs in the Royal Air Force travelling the world with iconic jet aircraft such as the Harrier, Jaguar, Vulcan and Buccaneer Since retiring from the military he has worked as an Engineer with Airbus in North Wales where the wings are made for all Airbus’ passenger aircraft.

We have both enjoyed travelling and even married in Las Vegas. After our children all flown the nest we became motorhomers in 2010, enjoying the freedom of travelling across the length and breadth of the UK, the West Coast of France and Lake Erie & Lake Ontario in Canada, never staying anywhere for more than four nights.

So after experiencing a tour to Italy with ‘Crossings’ in 2019 as customers, when the opportunity came for us to join Bob & Wendy as Tour Leaders we just had to leap at the chance to become the latest and newest members of the Crossings Motorhome Tours Team in 2023.

Rebecca & Andy Adams

We’ve always enjoyed travel and we spent years visiting Britain from Land’s End to the far tip of the Shetlands. Additionally narrow boats have featured strongly in our travels. We then looked further afield and have since had many trips both within Europe and beyond. After that we discovered motorhoming…...since then we haven’t looked back and have embraced life on the road.

Following Andy’s career as an engineer, initially within the merchant navy, then private industry and finally the NHS and Rebecca’s as a brewer, we are now retired. Since then we have been fortunate to be able to spend the majority of our time on four wheels – although those who we’ve met on campsites are more likely to associate us with two! These journeys have been widely spread throughout Britain and Europe.

Our first contact with Crossings was as customers. We really appreciated the confidence we gained from travelling in a group whilst retaining the freedom to continue to ‘do our own thing’. We found it very useful to be given suggestions on routes to take between sites, interesting places to visit on the journey and even where to find local supermarkets. We look forward to meeting and travelling with fellow motorhomers and sharing our enthusiasm for travel.
